We spent most of the day in an airport. When we finally got to our hotel, though, we were all so excited because we got to stay in condos instead of standard hotel rooms. We lived near each other, so we got to come over to each others rooms and socialize with people we might not usually talk to. When we got to the restaurant for dinner, there was another customer there who brought his family to have dinner for his birthday. Mr. Doughty told us to sing a surprise happy birthday to him, and we did. It was really nice to see that even though none of us knew the man, it still felt like we were bonding with him and his family. Later on, the man ended up giving my friends and I the rest of his birthday cake. Bonding with people that you don't necessarily know gives you a feeling of joy. It's not something that people usually do in New York and it was nice to see that you can easily socialize with the people living in Cuba.
